Khan KOs Judah in 5th Round

Pakistani Girl Becomes the Fastest Woman in South Asia


Naseem Hameed, a 22-year old girl from Karachi has won the 100-metre race in 11.81 seconds to become the fastest woman sprinter in South Asia. She returned to a tumultuous welcome here after a historic performance at the South Asian Games in Dhaka, Bangladesh and hoped her feat would inspire other female athletes from the country to do well at international stage.

First Pakistani Winter Olympian


Skier Muhammad Abbas made a little sporting history by registering Pakistan in the Winter Olympics 2010 in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. The 24-year-old Abbas came in ranked 3,764th in the world in giant slalom. He was hardly a medal threat, and wound up third-to-last among the 81 skiers who finished both runs.

Aleem Dar wins ICC Umpire of the Year

Aleem Dar, the Pakistan umpire, has been named Umpire of the Year at the ICC Awards ceremony in Bangalore. He has won this award – named the David Shepherd Trophy – for the second time in successive years. The other nominees in the category were Steve Davis, Tony Hill and five-time winner Simon Taufel.
